meet me on center for a one night fling
where the people flock to bars like they were pulled to them by strings
last call fireworks light the sky
and bring explosive markings to our glassed over eyes
embers rained into the street,
so i hailed a cab to save our feet
filled the air inside the car with laughter
and told the driver to go a little bit faster
we speed through the lights, and he took a bad turn
and we narrowly escape a little disaster

as we pulled up to the apartment
i jumped out the passenger door
raced you up the stairs, to the fifth floor
stopped at door six on the left hand side
entered with a kiss, and tuned out the outside
then our lips meet, and then our hips meet
and our hair is wrestled untame
we lay with our backs turned
wondering there afterward
how we'd sort out a little disaster

come as a stranger
leave as a friend
because this is only a means
to an inevitable end
and the look in your face screams to me
tell me something no one else will

and our little disaster
will eventually mend.
