So, there's this wicked-bad flu going around and of course I got it.
It's not a stomach flu, it's a flu that masquerades as the Lung Infecting Ear-Drum Death. I spent the first three days trying my damnedest to expel my lungs and the last two hearing a constant white noise. Luckily, though, the lungs seem to be getting rid of whatever nastiness is inside...

"Britain, Britain, Britain
There are three things you should know about Britain;
It is a country
It is called Britain
Britain"

hehe I lifted that from a britcom called "Little Britain" The lines above are spoken by the narrator, none other than Tom Baker

But seriously, If I could be living over there right now, I'd start in London. I'm familiar with the city and I know people there. Then I'd find a small country village and promplty begin my duties as village drunkard/idiot

Sorry to hear you're ill, but it seems the snapple and cold medication diet is doing you just. Did you get all your Sam Kieth books?

A DVD recommendation: Harvey Birdman Attorney at Law. If you've seen it, nevermind. If not, rent it and pee yourself laughing

Little Britian is too funny. I'm burning both seasons of it for a friend right now.

My spring is getting better. We had a couple of really rainy days that oddly enough perked me up and got me going a bit. Still, motivation in general is fleeting. I also have yet to see a Darth Tater on a store shelf. Thats ok though, because I did find a Return of the Jedi poster signed by David Prowse. He wrote; "The force is strong in you, Darth Vader" then signed his name. So cheesy. So cool.

Thanks for the recommendation. I'm leaning towards music business because my pal in London has a label going and I'm on the shortlist for employees should the venture take off

I'm in an argument in a forum in which I post regularily. It's a fan forum and the argument's going something like this:
Somebody posted about Save Toby, to which the host replied that it was stupid and then proceeded to rant about Schiavo and Congress. Some people tried to find out where the rant was coming from and then were met with a...

Ugh! The politics.

It's been a busy week of video games and drinking with my pal from England, but I'll tell you all about the totally rad PSP I bought very soon

World of Warcraft, eh? Yet another person I know who is falling to the great evil. I'm kidding, that game is supposed to be big fuck off fun! If I weren't such a counter strike junkie and a new PSP owner, I'd prolly play too smile

Talk at ya soon, got a financial aid meeting in an hour and then it's off too see Sin City!

AND it's spring!
AND in two weeks today, it'll be Funday, April 3nd, which means that I'll be spending the entire day with my best friend, one Mr. Kid Continuty, plus doing all of the things I like* AND hanging out with all my other friends.
In WINNIPEG!
I am very much looking forward to getting the fuck out of Dodge. Or Whitehorse, as it...

That's one big fuck off fun day! How on earth will you fit it all in? eeek

I should just drive up to the border for crunchies, and to say that I've been to Canada since I've never been. Sounds like a nice plan for a weekend in the near future.

Have you seen "Dead Like Me"? If not, rent it. You'll enjoy it. A lot smile
guidedbyvices:
No particular reason I thought you'd like Dead Like Me. I just finally bought the first season after watching the Wonderfalls set and I've been recommending it to everyone.

Everyone I know (all 4 of them) had never heard of the program surreal

Anyway, didn't know if you had seen it or not and thought I would spread the word.

I haven't seen season two yet, but I'm dissapointed in the cancellation.

Oh yeah, what are Matchmakers?

My friend Duncan is fine. We got very intoxicated last night, and he got laid! After three trips to the US and now, finally, he gets some. We're so terribly proud of him.

He brought me two very large Cadbury's chocolate bars with Crunchie bits. I shared half of one with everyone at the party last night but the rest is all mine!

Spaced is about, well, let me copy the back of the box;

"Spaced revolves around two idle twentysomthing flatmates- immature skateboarding would-be comic artist Tim (Simon Pegg), and moody, responsibilty shy writer Daisy (Jessica Stevenson), and their self induced lack of success in employment, relationships and life in general. Together with their odball assortment of friends and nieghbours: Marsha, Brian, Mike, and Twist, they exist in a world perched precariously on the edge of normality"

Ok, crap description. Tim and Daisy fake being a couple in order to rent a nice cheap flat in north London. I've only watched the first two episodes, but a good portion of the comedy comes from geek references. The cover of the box is a spoof of a Star Wars poster with the cast.

I'm really surprised that this hasn't been released over here with the popularity of Shaun of the Dead

Ok, thanks to Target, I've fallen in love with the Be Good Tanyas. And if I wanted to learn to play banjo before, I REALLY want to, now! If I could get good at it, I could even maybe jam with my baby brother! (who is artistically gifted in very every sense.)
I am now going to try to buy their album Blue Horse locally...

Thank you for the congrats. Its weird, I'm still upset about other things in my life that are outta control... because one thing going well doesn't fix all. Oh well... it'll all work out tho. I hope you get to live your dream job someday soon also... really, I mean that.

Just had a big fight with my husband.
But it was the good kind.
Basically, we chased each other around the house with a big bottle of gold bond medicated powder. Needless to say, both of us need showers and our apartment could use vacuuming. Also, I came desperately close to peeing my pants.
The pictures are posted. HEE!

Those Ireland pics are from two summers ago. Spent that July in Amsterdam, London, and then all over Ireland. The last two weeks were all spent on Inis Mor, just off of the west coast near Galway. Can't wait to go back again, but am trying to put together a trip to visit my family in Japan.

We're going to the arcade on Saturday afternoon, I'll tell ya all about it robot

Your husband reminds me of Brian Michael Bendis. Well, Bendis with a face full of Gold Bond medicated powdah tongue

Hey little sister. I updated. Cool, eh? I know I am. You should read my words. They're spelt. (That's to say that I did them in the "spelling" style of writing. I figured you'd like that.)

Got some bad news yesterday.
Cried a little.
We probably won't be moving this year after all. (Note: PROBABLY won't be. Still nothing definate. But the fact that it's definate enough that I can cry over it is better than the up-in-the-air future that's been sticking around since the beginning of December. Mm. Limbo for a whole season. Nice place, wouldn't want to live there.)...

Another comic you might like is We 3 by Grant Morrison and Frank Quitley. It's about a domesticated dog, cat, and rabbit who have been modified into living weapons.
Very Gory and quite sad as well. It's only a 3 issue series and all 3 should be very easy to find.

Oscar night.
Living where there are two tiny movie theaters (and the last three movies that I saw having been Dodgeball, Spiderman 2 and Stepford Wives last summer in Anchorage), this is like watching some vague space-travel award show.

Hey, thanks, that's always nice to hear. smile

I don't dislike deeper meanings at all, quite on the contrary. It's just that in this case, I really feel like the deeper meaning is the emotions of the story. It very nicely conveys desperation and pain and frustration. What is brilliant to me about it is that it's simple, and everyone can relate to that; as such, you could apply what the story is saying to any act of expressing yourself and failing with equal relevance. By narrowing the idea just to writing, the teacher was doing Chekhov a disservice; it goes much deeper than that.

But the most important thing is that all of that could be revealed by simply reading the story. For all my teacher's specifics, all he did, I think, is detach people from the material and get them analyzing what certain plot elements could be symbolic of, rather than thinking about what the story was actually trying to convey. Rather than saying, "These emotions could be applied to writing" and then drawing parallels, he told us that the story actually was about writing, which it's not. As far as I can tell.

I'm not sure if that made any coherent sense, but I spent a while trying to figure out how to explain it and I'm not deleting it now.

I just got back from a night of beer and blackjack. The beer was delicious, the blackjack was fairly devastating. 'Course, considering that I played for 3 hours on $10, I guess it really THAT devastating... Also, the proceeds went to charity, so I guess it isn't all bad.
I also had lunch and two beers bought for me today because I recreated an...
