I didn't spend Thanksgiving with any family members today, this is the second year in a row. Last year it was due to some long simmering acrimony with my sister. This year, well, nothing seemed to come to fruition. I am thankful I am healthy, and that my family and friends are too. After two years of serious illness (all of 2002 and 2003), I don't take health for granted. It's a gift we are lucky to have, and yet we usually don't appreciate it until it is gone (like love). I wonder if I will ever celebrate Thanksgiving (or any holiday) with a family of my own. The concept of finding a woman that will marry me and bear children is still such a foreign idea to me as to practically be science fiction. I don't mean this to be all "woe is me, I am lonely, boo hoo" but today thru 12/31 is the time of year where the fact that I am still single in my (late) 30s comes into sharp relief. That and the fact that I cannot imbibe. The holiday season is a good time of year for the most part, but I totally get when people who are pre-disposed to melancholy or depressed really feel their effects. So, if you are reading this and have that special someone in your life, please be sure you don't take it for granted. If you are reasonably healthy, please try to appreciate that as well. Too often these things are taken for granted. Sort of a long-winded and simplistic message, but it's the best I can do.

In more "normal" news, I went to see Harry Potter & The Deathly Hallows Pt 1. It was pretty amazing. Never could get into the books, but the films have been, without exception, excellent. This new one may be the best yet. The way the film series has gotten darker as it has progressed is really something. I am shocked at how much I have grown to really care about the characters and wish them well and fear for their safety. Cannot wait for next summer when it comes to an end. I have kept myself spoiler-free, so I await the conclusion with baited breath.
