I saw American Gangster today. It was a good piece of fine craftsmanship. Great performances, interesting story, nice use of time and place. I definitely liked it lots, but I couldn't help the feeling of The Familiar that crept into my mind when watching it. The film has a LOT of cliches. That isn't neccessarily a bad thing, but it did cause me to never really get "into" the movie. Still, it was way better than the (somewhat similar) The Departed from last year, which isn't saying much since I continue to persist in my thinking that The Departed was one of the most overrated films in recent memory. How that movie is considered to be such a great film boggles my mind.

I haven't decided if Daylight Savings Time has screwed up my bio-rhythms or not. I do feel a bit off today. It could be that I am still holding up pretty well on my "eat less" way of thinking. To me, Dried Apricots are like candy right now. I eat one or two and feel like I'm popping Hershey Kisses in my mouth. Please God don't let me become that worst of all mammals, the Male Eating Disorder victim...

I can't decide if I dig Davendra Banhart or not yet. I think he might become one of those artists that I really enjoy, like Daniel Johnston, who is talented but a bit loopy.
