REM has disbanded. I am reeling from this news. I shall be in mourning for a while...
eroticgeek:
I will be mourning with you. frown This is indeed sad news.
linusvanpelt:
I shall spend tomorrow at work with REM in my ears via my iPod. The music lives on.

In the next three months I will be seeing X, the Foo Fighters, the Pixies, the Bangles, Jane's Addiction, and Duran Duran. I suspect good times will be had.

If you live in an area showing either "The Devil's Double" (a film about Uday Hussein and the man hired to be his double in order to avoid assassination attempts) or "Attack The Block" (which is a fun sci-fi horror movie about some British street thugs defending their council flat from an attack of alien wolf creatures with glowing fangs) I heartily recommend seeing them....

The West Memphis 3 have finally been let out of jail (one of them on death row)! While I am not crazy about the fact they weren't 100% exonerated, at least they can now, maybe, have some sort of normal lives. Plain and simple, these three kids (at the time) were railroaded by a Legal system that totally failed them. Additionally, when you convict people...

The new They Might Be Giants album (LP, record, CD, download, whatever) called "Join Us" didn't grab me right away, but the damn thing has grown on me big time in the week since it was released. I plan to write an in depth review at some soon point, but for now, I would say if you like/love this band, definitely check it out. It's...

U2 concert this evening! I bought my ticket back in November of 2009, so it's been a bit of a wait. This will be my second time seeing them (saw Popmart tour in the late 1990s which was in support of the critically underrated "POP" album). I paid 100 bucks for my seat, so I assume it's a decent vantage point, but whenever I think...

Paul McCartney put on a stunning show last night at Yankee Stadium. Almost three hours long, and for a Beatles/McCartney nerd like me, not a bad song choice in the bunch. What does it say that he played 36 songs and still left out a couple "standards"? Getting to and from Yankees Stadium was no fun (it took two hours to go from there to...

Cool stuff. I am going to be doing book and movie reviews for fun and to sharpen my writing skilly. Do you havwe any tips for writing reviews?
linusvanpelt:
Pick a really awesome movie or a really terrible movie and go to town. Don't be afraid of going too far or being unrestrained. Spelling correctness is a plus. Grammar, unless intentionally bad, should also be proper. Short paragraphs. Tell everyone what you plan on telling them in the first paragraph. Then tell them, Then, in the last paragraph, tell them what you told them.
If you have link to your reviews, please reply with it attached, I would like to read.

And then on some days the mail is actually awesome. Got my McCartney tickets today as well as my autographed Juliana Hatfield poster. Nice. Also, the Katy Perry Rolling Stone ish came. Apparently, the main thing I took away from the lengthy article about her was that she has large breasts. "Go figger" as a 1874 prospector might exclaim.

McCartney is playing Yankee Stadium in July. The tix go onsale to the "general public" Monday morning. My neurosis kicks in until then. I have some sort of irrationality to me that makes me get worrisome that I will try to get tickets and be unable to. Then when I get tickets the "Fear of getting to and fro the show" kicks in. I should...

Dude I have the same kind of "ticket anxiety." Most of the time, I have nothing to worry about and get to go to the show, but there has been a few times in which my worrying resulted in them selling out before I could buy them. Like for example, I wanted so badly to go to Rock on the Range in Columbus, Ohio back in May. My boyfriend has gone for several years now and informed me that they hardly ever sell out of field tickets before April. Well, I had a chance to go last Summer, but my gimp ass wink broke my foot and ankle and was unable. This year as was so psyched and wanted to go real bad. So my boyfriend and I planned to buy tickets a few weeks after they went online in January. Well, before the month was even over all field tickets were sold out. I was so mad! mad Granted their lineup was especially good this year, but that is still quite fast for tickets to sell out for an 3 day outdoor concerts.

Oh yeah, I hope you do not mind the random friend request. I just happened upon your profile through searching and then when I read your blog, it reminded me of myself. I consider myself a concert "whore" if you will. I love going to them. I will go anywhere, anytime to go to one. I am a bit deprived though at the moment. It has been at least a year since my last concert adventure. I saw Cavo, Lifehouse, and Daughtry, in Pikeville. Kentucky last June. So I am way overdue for a good show.

I hope you get your tickets. Try not to worry too much. Sometimes, it can be an omen. biggrin

Pink Eye left, then made a surprise comeback last night into today. GD!

In concert news, I decided I need to see Motley Crue this summer, so I shall. Poison is opening for them (not a huge fan) but so is The New York Dolls. Really looking forward to that.

Hope all is well!

Thanks, Kay! Seem to be past it!
