I all the time think it hysterical that Garfield (the cat) doesn't like Mondays. He's a CAT! That's nutty. Cats don't go to work. Isn't Monday pretty much like Friday and Sunday if you're a cat (?!?)

My favorite form of punctuation is definitely when you put the exclamation mark in parenthesis, such as the following:

Burt Reynolds has never won the Oscar (!)

It...

Happy Thanksgiving.

I saw No Country For Old Men last nite. It was super-good. The ending is going to be troubling to most people that see it, because it is unconventional, and is probably a let-down for those who expect a standard resolution. The last twenty minutes are very unlike the proceeding 100 minutes. It was brave to end on a minor note. I didn't...

EVERY EPISODE OF ENTOURAGE:

Vince wants something really bad (a film role or a meet with some H'Wood Big Wig).

His agent Ari says no way, it is impossible. Eric tells him to make it happen.

Johnny Drama and Turtle have some side adventure where Drama labors under some mistaken idea that his fame will somehow help. Turtle comes along to see what happens.

Vince...

I am trying to understand the present by delving into the past. I have been reading a lot of stuff about American Politics of the sixties and seventies. A lot of it is so much "the more things change the more they stay the same" and all that...but one of the things I read was a lengthy article about Jimmy Carter making a comment that...

Oh the things one could do if only they have a fake mustache and affect a French accent...

I watched another bad B-movie today called Malibu High. It was about a bad High School girl (how bad? She smokes at the breakfast table) who becomes first a hooker then a hitman (hitwoman sounds wrong to me) all on her quest to graduate High School with...

I all the time like Blogs where it is only one vaguely sinister sentence that seems to be aimed at only one person in particular. Like, it will say something cryptic like "Okra grows best in the pale moonlight", or "The Rat smells its own cheese first."

Are blogs slowly becoming (or have already become) a major form of communication? I know that for a...

I saw American Gangster today. It was a good piece of fine craftsmanship. Great performances, interesting story, nice use of time and place. I definitely liked it lots, but I couldn't help the feeling of The Familiar that crept into my mind when watching it. The film has a LOT of cliches. That isn't neccessarily a bad thing, but it did cause me to never...

I was a busy bee today, if only I could say that busyness is equatable with watching stuff.

I went to Atlantic City today (or "AC" if those annoying "Ten Ways To Tell You're From New Jersey" emails that a-holes send incessantly) and saw two shows and a movie.

The movie? "Redacted" directed by Brian DePalma. A truly great film that has totally skipped any...

I have been pretty good about writing lately. I am currently in that nether region between finishing something and starting a new thing. I cannot decide if I should jump in and start something from scratch or go back and revise something I wrote a few years ago that needs a lot (a LOT lot) of rewriting. I thought it was in much better shape...

So, as a general part of my eat better campaign, I am researching the possibility of going Vegetarian for one year (that would be 2008). I gave up red meat for a year (2004), so it is not that big a leap. I haven't 100% decided yet, so as I research I hope to shift the decision balance one way or the other. I just...

Happy Birthday to me.

I think I'll splurge on myself by getting some supermarket Sushi. A real indulgence.

I saw No End In Sight, a documentary about Iraq. It was pretty disturbing. Great film. Too bad the only people that will see it are already pre-disposed to agree with it (like me). The people who would benefit most from this film would never watch it...

HAPPY BIRTHDAY... enjoy the sushi smile. I agree that people tend to stay to their own beliefs... challenges are too uncomfortable for some people, but I feel that's when we learn... if we are comfortable we're not growing.

I did finally go to Blade Runner:Final Cut today in NYC. What a great flick. Probably the last time to see it on the big screen, but at least I did (if I hadn't it would have gnawed at me). It only took two 2.5 hour train rides (to and fro) that cost $21.50 roundtrip and $11.00 for the ticket (gotta love NYC ticket prices)....
