Busy boy, no rest for you
Its kinda amusing that I'm still taking classes after all this time. I mean, its week 9/10 in this quarter system, and I'm all synched up w/the undergrads in terms of stress and midterms, and after class I get back into lab where its a completely different kinda stress. The grad student stress is like a constant malaise; frantic energy as multitasking nutcases perform multistep syntheses all under the kind and gentle supervision of the Yoshi. At least lately it ain't so prevalent due to the new baby. But yeah, stress vs. stress, its still interesting to be coming out of this intense japanese language mindset and walking into a chemical one.....hehe, now I can't wait for the day when I walk outta japanese class and walk into lab talking to Yoshi about my synthetic progress in japanese. I just feel sorry for my future japanese teacher who'll have to listen to some strung n' stressed out grad student talk chemistry in japanese 'cause he forgot where he was.
No play this weekend, no sir. Had me a fun ol' time getting up at 6am on Sunday to go run 20 miles; oh this trainin's just too much fun.
Plan was to run for 1.5hr, meet up w/the rest of my running team, run another 70min, and then all of us would up and go to breakfast together. Now let me tell you a lil' something 'bout these long runs: Once you get past the 18 mile mark, you can't help but start fixatin' on food. Low blood sugar and all, the only thing that keeps me going is just what I'm going to eat when I'm done w/this freakin' run. And let me tell you, Sunday's breakfast was *awesome*. I mean, it was alright, but right then and there it was heaven. And a double late.....oh man. You know what would top all this off?
Spending the rest of the day in lab. Thats right. See here, my labmate Cyndie has gone and thrown down the gauntlet. Declared war 'n shit. So its *on*. Who'll finish their target first? Awe, hell, I don't care, but its fun to get all militant about protecting groups and the like, hehe. At least Sunday is all lax 'round the lab. Chill.
Not like this week. Week 9/10. My japanese final is coming up w/all this work accumulatin'. S'gonna be a real treat soon, mark my words.
