On target and then some
Sunday was long run day, 18 miles of fun and enjoyment planned amidst all this nice San Diego weather. Planning our route (Anne, Tim and I), we were originially thinking of starting from Pizza Port Brewery in Solana Beach and head north along the coast to Carlsbad and back, finishing w/post-run victory beer and pizza, but instead opted for some nice trail runnin'. This lead us to choose going from UCSD north along Highway 5 (Running on H-5 is awesome!) down to Sorrento Valley, into Penisquitos canyon to the end and back, and back up to the UC campus, figuring 3 down, 6&6 on the out 'n back, and 3 back up.
Except we were kinda off guessing the distance from UCSD to the trail head in Sorrento Valley. Just a mile. But in an out 'n back, that means 2 miles, so our 18 miler became >20 miler. Which is a big difference after you've been running for over 2 hours in the sun.
So yeah, you could say I was in a vegetative state after wards. Eating helped, as did a reallll nice cat nap, replete w/cats. Me mum was in town so we had dinner at me cousin's over in Tierrasanta, floored over this Lemon-buttermilk pie w/the best pie crust I've had in years (2 sticks butter?).
Yup. And damn if it ain't strange, but I feel completely ok after that crazy-ass run yesterday. Was dreading today's 5, but I think it'll go ok. We'll see.
Above and beyond, this'll be a 60+ mile week.
