That duck was funny. After cooking it, there was more fat than duck, which is ok I guess, since I want to attempt a duck confit and then the legendary-time-consuming-and-pretentious cassoulet.

The Triathalon Club of San Diego hosted this canyon run this morning, a 9 miler that was really nice and scenic. You know San Diego has these things called 'mesas'? And in between them are these canyons with all these nice trails that you would never guess are smack in the middle of all this suburban sprawl. Being stuck in La Jolla, it was so nice to have some sort of semblance of getting out of here, albeit some of the Tri Club people are pretty wierd, so after 3 miles w/them I kinda took off, just wanting to know how some of these canyons interconnect and all. I don't think I'm going to run with them again; all attitude and no speed is so wierd.

let me know the best canyons, i need to "get away" from my lil suburbia too. the only one i ever really noticed was where the 52 is, but hiking next to a freeway kinda freaks my lungs out.

That one next to the 52 is really nice, I couldn't even see the traffic.
If you park at the Starbucks/Henry's on Govenor, you can go north on Regents and that'll drop you down into Rose Canyon, where theres a railroad track but at least no highway. You can take that west all the way to the 5 and south to the 52, then under the 52, and then east along the 52 canyon until you hit Regents. Up regents back to Starbucks/Henry's.
