So what started as a fantastic date night out with my husband ended up being one of the worst nights of my life.
We left our house at 6pm to go for some delicious sushi, followed by the new Star Trek movie. After dinner we had some time to kill so we stopped by the book store and got some new graphic novels. We headed across South Common and went to see the movie; which is hilarious and I highly recommend. We got a few Pokemon around the shopping centre and headed for home.
We pulled into our parking stall, at 10:30pm and went up to our door; as we were crossing our patio I noticed our indoor welcome mat and our kitchen mat were outside, not where we left them. When we got to the door there was a piece of paper taped to it, notifying us that the fire department had to gain access to our unit when we were away due to flooding in the downstairs unit.
We rushed inside found our girls were both safe and secure, then we had to assess the damage. Apparently while we were out out water heater had begun leaking profusely and had flooded the whole downstairs of our home. Most of our stuff is OK there is some damage but it's mostly minor. The bigger issue is that there is now water in the floor and they are going to have to pull up the floor and assess the damage.
The water is shut off and we were told to vacate for at least the night, so the 4 of us are now at 2:30am staying at a hotel 7 minutes from our house while we wait to see what the insurance company says.
Good night...
