Well, my life recently has been so up in the air, after a lot of soul searching I have decided not to take on the manager's job, I went to the shop last Monday to meet with the current manager to have a weeks handover and learn about the shop.
Well when I arrived, the shop turned out to be massive, easily 4 times the size of the old shop which is bloody huge for a sex shop, it looked dirty and messy with a distinct lack of stock in places.
There was a huge water stain on the floor from a flood months before the carpet had never been replaced or even cleaned so just looked aweful, now all of these tings I can live with I pride myself on being a good manager, I can pull things together in short order, and could make the shop look good, but things only got worse from there.
Now in this industry your customers can be a strange bunch with varying scales of oddness, but in this branch it took on a whole new level of insanity.
Now I had noticed when I arrived that the shop had o CCTV and no double locking door system in place, which to be honest I found something worry but thought maybe the hop had less problems than some, hmmm how wrong could I be, after talking with the old manager about the shop I learned some very disturbing things, for starters she has been threatened with physical violence and on one occasion with a knife, she had her arm slammed in the shop door by a teenager too, so I asked if she had asked for more safety procedures to be put in place, the only thing they have is the radios linked to the town security, but was told she couldn't have the CCTV or the double locking door system.
Well I decide to talk to the area manager about this but he told me the same as he had told her, so I wasn't very enthusiastic about this position, I decided to send them an email that night, and explain that in its current state I was not willing to take on the role and that they should find someone who is willing to run it as it is, well they called me the next day and made all sorts of promises about having the work done but it would take time, and in the process making me feel as though I was doing something wrong by wanting to be safe in my work place, so I said I would think about it and discuss it with my family, because p until this point marc my husband had told me he wasn't happy at all with me working there and didn't think it was worth my risking my safety for the crap wages they were offering me
So after a lot of soul searching I turned them down and decided I would find something else, so here I am unemployed but a lot more comfortable in my stuation than I was in the beginning of the week.
Other that not much has changed, I had my hair cut much shorter and I hate it, lol, so deciding how to sort that one out.
And were still in temporary housing and will just have to see when they decide to move us
