Say hi Hercules!!

I got a call late last night from a lady in Winchester who found him sitting on the pavement next to his dead sibling so she took him in and found my details on the interwebz and gave me a call. So, I started my day very early this morning driving to Winchester then Portsmouth to drop him off to a lovely rehabilitator that I know and she said he will be fine She will hand-rear him until he is big and strong enough to be released back into the wild

Hercules is a baby wood pigeon and is approximately 1 week old. It is believed that his nest was disturbed and the two of them fell to the ground. The nest was far too high for the lady to return the squabs so he had to be taken indoors into the warm else he wouldn't have made it. His parents were nowhere to be seen either so it was the only thing that could be done to save him.

Miraculously he was able to suck water from a spoon and took tiny mouthfuls of Weetabix on a baby spoon from the lady who found him. At such a young age this is unheard of to the point of being impossible! But when I checked his crop, the little bugger was full so he had definitely fed! I can't tell you how I LOVE to start my days like this
