Lightbulbjack vs. Clifford the Big Red Dog: Jack Strikes Back
I talked to my boss about whats going on at work. I wasnt expecting a lot of support for her but I thought she would back me a little bit. Well, I was wrong. She agreed with me on one issue, we arent there to be greeters. I guess thats something.
Much to my surprise, the store manager kind of sided with me. This is a woman who never liked me much, at least as far as I could tell. When I first started working there I got in to it with her over giving away photos to every customer who had the smallest complaint. The gist of the conversation was, you dont have the right to give our services away. We are a different company. I asked her how she would like it if I just started telling people who had a problem with the store to just take a TV as a way of addressing the customer concerns. How was I to know she was the store manager? Not one of my brighter moments.
Anyhoo, I told the manager the story as I had been told. Cliffords trashing us in front of other employees, sending someone to do her dirty work, the whole deal. She was shocked. If I hadnt seen it for myself I wouldnt have believed her reaction. She had no idea what had happened, and was not happy with Clifford the Big Red Dog. She said she would talk to Clifford and take care of the situation.
I showed her my doctors note and explained that I need to be able to sit because of my back. Once I told her about my car accident when I was younger and how it had twisted my spine giving me a life long injury, she was cool with it. People tend not to argue with a spinal injury story.
Cut to today. Clifford the Big Red Dog was there all day. I was there all day. Clifford wasnt happy with me. She didnt say a word to me the whole day, not that I cared. She wouldnt make eye contact. The few times I managed to get her to look at me, I could tell she would have liked to strangled me.
Tomorrow Im going to buy my chair. Im buying it from my store, with my employee discount, and if she is on a lane, from Clifford the Big Red Dog.
Its not a total victory. I cant let my people read during their shift anymore. So, no more crosswords or homework. For the time being they are going to have to stand for there shifts, but Im confident that will ease up over time.
Im normally a vary laid-back person. I think Clifford thought Id let this pass and not cause such a scene. If she had come to me and talked this over civilly, Id have been willing to work with her. But by going behind my back, trash my employees and myself to the other store employees, and flat out lying, no way.
Tomorrow when I buy my chair, take it behind my counter and sit down, I win. There will be some people in the store who will take pleasure in me beating Clifford at her own game. There will also be people pissed because I get to sit down and they dont. To them I say, too bad, so sad, deal with it.
Today was a good day.

Do you prefer classic pin-ups then? I prefer modern pin-ups but I appreciate the classics too.
As for the jackhammer...my dirty mind tells me that he would like to drill her.
