I am Not The Flavour Of The Month.
This is marginally better than being In The Doghouse. But still not good. I won't go into the details. Save to say that, when you have made plans for a little country walk, and the Flu Sufferer says she is not fit to go, but suggests we go shopping for an outfit for her birthday party instead,...

Very nice home. And you're definitely a smart man....I think we've all been in the doghouse at one time or another. No need to pick a scab...sometimes it's best to let it heal on it's on!

yes I love spring! lovely garden/ yard!
TRUE TO MY WORD.......
....we have just finished watching The English Patient; the bottle of Rioja is nearly empty, and I can still feel the tears on my cheeks.
Not one scene is superfluous. Every scene cuts through you and makes you realise that love, real love, is felt, not in the heart, but in the pit of your stomach. And that real love can...

I appreciate what you said about the differences between The English Patient book and film. It's just something I've taken to doing lately - if I particularly enjoy a film, I'll read the book(s) that it was adapted from or inspired by. I've introduced myself to several wonderful writers in this manner. Thank you for bringing this film (and book) back into the present for me.
I had no idea that Anthony Minghella had passed. What a tragedy. I loved all of his films that you mentioned and all that I've seen. I am deeply saddened.
I can't help but be reminded of the untimely death of Krzysztof Kieslowski - life saving surgery; identical result.

It's a cool 15C here this morning
What's that in old money? Let's see.....Tf = (9/5)*Tc+32......so that's 59F.
I think at least three of you have told me that it's 95F where you are. I couldn't remember the last time the temperature reached 95F in Britain, so I checked up. And it was July 2006, when it reached 97.7F in the south (the highest recorded...

19C here after being after hitting 33C earlier in the week.
The last time that I saw The English Patient was when it was first released - an excellent film! It's now in the queue for my future viewing pleasure.
Best of luck with your presentation on layered virtualization solutions for internal infrastructure in Tier 2 datacentres. I hope that it is well received. I wish I knew what it was

THE WORLD ONLY SPINS FORWARD
In 1990, I was in my third year of work in London. Living above an antiques shop on the Kings Road, I shared the premises with the owners, the guy who sold the paintings, the guy who sold the books, and a photographer. And, of all of us, I was the only straight guy.
I loved my time there, and...

Back in the eighties I worked at a large, multinational corporation. Several of my co-workers contracted and eventually died from AIDS. Many friends and fellow dealers on the flea market circuit as well. It's a damnable crime that so little was done at the time to help them.
We seemed to have a great societal gift for looking the other way while so many of our fellow beings were suffering.
As always, of course, there were some shining exceptions...

Hahahahaha. Man flu.
Please don't tell my stupid American copatriots about that or it will be a "pandemic" here too. *sigh*
Yes, the silliness was getting to me. I keep having to refraining from shaking people I know, who are otherwise intelligent, when they get on a kick about swine flu.

It's old, but appropriate.

HOORAY FOR THE BIRTHDAY BEAVER!
You ever said something in all innocence that you later come to regret? If any men are reading this, and you aren't nodding, you are only deluding yourself, believe me. Fact is, guys, I bet we all say at least one thing a day where, as soon as the words leave our mouth, we think 'Oops'.
Anyway, this is one...

I think it's great!
Happy, happy, happy birthday to your daughter!
I'm a bit troubled, though... What's all this about Father Christmas and the Easter Bunny not existing? I must not have gotten the memo

In the early Fifties.....
...when Churchill was in his final term as British Prime Minister, his sleep was disturbed one night by one of his aides. With a look of panic on his face, he nervously informed Churchill that one of his government ministers had been found in one of London's parks in the early hours, being buggered senseless by a Grenadier guardsman.

Birthday Assembly!
This morning we went to school to see all the girls and boys whose birthday falls this month (including our daughters) talk to their classmates about their favourite piece of work, and what they will do/did for their birthday.
I'm a real softie for things like this, and I feel quite emotional when the Head is telling all the children about how they...

That's really nice. I guess that's something that I have to look forward to when my daughter gets older. Not necessarily that event...but the heartfelt emotions.
Having productive meetings are always good...but you're right...for some reason it wears off...and quickly I might add. Is your company involved with healthcare at all...as it deals with IT that is?

In response to Nurse Evy's kind request for some photos of our garden, here's a few pics I've taken over the past couple of years. None from this year as yet, although I've taken a couple but just not uploaded them. There's a woodland area at the bottom of our north facing garden slope, and the small wildlife pond sits just above that. A pile...
