Still officially 'out of the office'. But can I just take this moment to say 'YEEEEEEESSSSSSSSS!!!!!!!!' We've beaten the Aussies and regained the Ashes!!! What a fantastic performance; Trott's test debut century, Broad's excellent pace bowling, Swann's wonderful spin, Flintoff's larger than life performance, and Strauss's brilliant captaincy. Just SOOOO good! Ricky Ponting's dignified and determined performance as the Aussie captain too, literally spitting blood yesterday, when a hard struck ball nearly knocked his teeth out. But such a gentleman; he remained polite and good natured even though you could see how much the defeat hurt.



I don't usually do patriotism - the last refuge of the scoundrel! But an occasion like this, I think, means that William Blake deserves to be rolled out...as the crowd sang at the Oval today, all together now!

And did those feet in ancient time

On England's pleasant pastures seen?

And was Jerusalem builded here
