I am Not The Flavour Of The Month.

This is marginally better than being In The Doghouse. But still not good. I won't go into the details. Save to say that, when you have made plans for a little country walk, and the Flu Sufferer says she is not fit to go, but suggests we go shopping for an outfit for her birthday party instead, it is not a good idea to point out she's probably not fit to do that either. Suffice to say, Daughter and I ended up going for a walk by ourselves. And there is an Atmosphere. I will do my best to follow The Dog Whisperer's advice and be 'Calm, submissive'. We do not want to get to the stage where Things Get Said, do we?

<sigh>

It was a lovely walk, though. Along a river, and across stepping stones. The woods were full of ramsons, and the air was thick with the smell of garlic, even to my rather cold-ridden nose. Daughter brought her wildflower book that my aunt had bought her as a birthday present, and we found red campion, lesser periwinkle, primrose, wood sorrel, lady's smock and lots more. Don't you love spring? It was cold though - the temperature dropping into the 40's. On occasion, I regretted wearing shorts, but rather that than over-dressing, and sweating all afternoon.

In fact, it's been a great weekend and Bank Holiday all round. The birthday trip to the cinema was good fun. I love Monsters v Aliens! The President is hilarious! "We need our finest scientific minds on the problem. Call India!" And such a delightful and well-behaved bunch of little girls. Mine made me proud by saying she wants to give some of her birthday money to the local children's hospice.

And yesterday, I dug 625 litres of compost into the round border of the garden. Now I need ten bags of grit dug in, then I can start planting, which will be a complex task, as it's a north facing garden, and you have to be aware of the seasonal shade....

But a lot is coming together. The arch is festooned with clematis....

And the rock garden at the front of the house is finally finished...

So. A good weekend all round. Apart from the Atmosphere. But I think that will disappear with the flu. And, believe me, in fourteen years, I have spent a lot of time In The Doghouse!

Love to all

Very nice home. And you're definitely a smart man....I think we've all been in the doghouse at one time or another. No need to pick a scab...sometimes it's best to let it heal on it's on!
