In response to Nurse Evy's kind request for some photos of our garden, here's a few pics I've taken over the past couple of years. None from this year as yet, although I've taken a couple but just not uploaded them. There's a woodland area at the bottom of our north facing garden slope, and the small wildlife pond sits just above that. A pile of rocks lies where I plan to build a small dry-stone wall - in memory of my time as a countryside warden, and the skills I picked up then. To the left, is a pastel border, with roses and hostas leading to a trellis and through a wooden arch, that will shortly be covered in clematis. On the other side, sits a little bench, where you can be quite alone, even in this relatively small area. Central is the work in progress - a large circular border, about six feet deep, surrounding a circular patio, except where steps lead down to my daughter's playhouse. Beyond there is the swing, and the young crabapples. I laid the patio two years ago, and last year, built a dry-stone retaining wall to contain the border. Now I have to dig it all over and put in the compost and grit. Planting will take an age, as the border is huge, but I want to create drifts of perennials that come to a fiery climax in August. We will see.

Anyway, the pics.....

The pastel border, from a couple of years ago. To the right is the then undeveloped circular border...

When I'd moved the soil for the circular border, it all seeded with a marvellous display of poppies....

I bought the hostas at a charity plant sale at work....

The fritillaries and ferns around the pond. They look a treat this year...

The border in summer. Verbena, roses, leucanthemum and others....

Through the arch...

The wildlife pond in summer. The irises and marsh marigolds have gone, but it was full of baby frogs...

And finally. Some of the foxgloves from the woodland border....

Hope you like them.
