I have been emailing someone at punkgrl.com all day. they are absolute idiots. i feel so sorry for all the girls they've roped into joining because they feel they have to be a nude model to be considered a sexy alternative looking girl. wtf. its sickening.

anyway, here's the emails between us.

I was just shown your site by a friend and was wondering how much you actually pay the models, as there is no clear indication on the website whatsoever to find these details out. I had to actually sign-up in order to get this email address, which I think is quite unprofessional.

Hi Sophie, we pay models depending on several factors most notable being if they're of an amateur or professional nature. We'll only discuss payments with models personally I'm afraid.

You didn't have to signup to get this email address, it's located at the bottom of the FAQ under "I need to contact someone at PunkGrl.com" as well as at the bottom of EVERY page on the site but thanks for your concerns with our professionalism.

Hi John,

I really find that quite offensive, that you would receive photos of naked girls and then make judgments on how much they're worth. That is truly disgusting.

I myself am a Suicide Girl and have been for several years. If photos are accepted and are of a suitable level they are used and the girls are paid a previously stated (on the website) amount, if not, they are given a chance to be in the hopefuls sections and not paid until their set goes live. Perhaps you have the same policy with the hopefuls.

I also think you should be able to tell someone who contacts you with an enquiry about what the rate is. For all naive girls know, who send you (a male) photos of herself naked, she could receive as little as 50.

As a professional model who's been in the business for a long time, I am not impressed. And surprised you're allowed to get away with this practice.

Hey Sophie, just to make it very clear for you, we have 2 set rates of pay, one for pro models and one for amateur models, we make no judgments based on looks or on naked photos! That's just ridiculous. We arrange all our shoots ourselves, there are no "rejected sets", if we agree on a model becoming part of the site, we set them up with one of our photographers, they shoot and we pay both the photographer and model. i.e models don't have to pay their photographers and hope the set will be accepted, this is our policy and we think it is much fairer to models and photographers.

If you are infact a Suicide Girl you would have signed their restrictive contract and therefore are not able to work for anyone else so I'm not too sure why you have got in contact with us in the first place?

So why can't you state the rates of pay for amateur or pro on the website? Or at least give the information to someone who enquires before hand?

If you are assigning the girls with professional photographers, surely they are professional photographs so it doesn't matter what level of experience a girl has, unless of course you mean she is ugly.

I explained before I had to do a fake application (where i didnt send you photos to judge) to get an email address to enquire about the rates as i could not find your email address on the website, and still can't. If it is on there you should maybe make it clearer. I am not interested in applying to work for you, I was just curious to see what you were paying girls (who were perhaps rejected by SG), as you have such high membership fees.

Hi Sophie, I've tried to explain our process and am not going to keep trying as I'm sure you're a busy person, as I know I am. I'm still a little confused as to why you're so interested in us but never the less;

As I stated before this email address is on the footer of EVERY SINGLE page on the website as well as in the FAQ, no one else has had problems finding it.

We pay professional models more as they are just that, professional models. There's no conspiracy here Sophie and last time I looked SG doesn't employ any "ugly girls", nor do GG or Burning Angel or us here at PunkGrl. If a model applies to us and doesn't have the right look they simply won't get accepted, on the other hand if they do get accepted we arrange the shoot and pay for everything, there's no need to wait months for your set to be accepted or rejected.

All I'm willing to say is our pay is slightly above the industry standard for art nude (& of course we pay the photographers, editing and admin costs) and like those other sites I mentioned girls at PunkGrl don't even have to be fully nude and that's the way we like it.

he still didnt actually answer my question. it doesnt add up. it's appalling. i'm also pretty livid he didn't believe i was an SG. Ok so i'm not exactly what you'd call a professional model, but i have modelled for 2 sets for SG and i have done modelling for other things, infact my face will be in the next issue of Computer Arts. My friend Marcroy uses me a lot in his graphic design/photography.

anyway, just thought i should share this because it really angered me, and maybe you can tell your friends to not apply there, or not apply yourself. because it's unfair and degrading.
