well anyway, just got back from a cool event. TV on the Radio did an album launch thingy at Sunshine Cinemas where they showed a movie that featured videos from every song on the new album 9 Types of Light and some documentary style segments in between the songs. The new album, by the way, sounded fantastic in the theatre. They really turned up the volume and it was a great way to be introduced to the songs with great visuals as well. Tunde, the lead singer, directed one of the videos (he has a film background).
After the movie Tunde did a Q and A session with the audience and he was a really cool, down to earth guy. i asked him a question about the tone of the new album. to me it sounds optimistic and less dark than their previous efforts, and maybe a hint spiritual. i wanted to know if Tunde agreed. he said its a happy record although he doesnt consider it to have too much spiritual overtones, maybe a tiny bit.
