I watched the whole speech on youtube but this is just some highlights.
I think the 10 year goal to rid the US of fossil fuel dependence to create electricity is an ambitious one but necessary. Al's point about how relying on oil is killing our economy is a valid one. We need to break free of fossil fuel dependence to make sure that the US doesn't fall behind other countries who have already shifted up to 80% of their electricity production away from fossil fuels. And the war in Iraq, which is costing us hundreds of billions of dollars is, in the end, about securing oil.
We need to go a different route.
