So I'm officially a Brooklyner. I slept in my NEW bed in my NEW apartment and took my NEW (well for me anyway) train to work today. A crazy guy was telling a story to everyone on the train car about a brooklyn train wreck that happened 87 years ago. The amazing thing was that he was an incredible storyteller. He'd make a great subject for a documentary film. He looks like Ebenezer Scrooge and talks like he's reading from a movie script. And he actually had a point too. After about a 10 minute history lesson about the not-so-famous train wreck he told us that the new york subway system is the safest form of transportation on the planet...that a person could literally travel a lightyear on the trains without a fatality. And that he had been riding the trains for 50 years and that there's no need to get panicky about an unattended package on the subway. "its not a bomb" he said. "dont go reporting it to the MTA or the police. I'll tell you exactly what it is. Garbage."
