finally moving to oakland will be there the 1st of July, So looking foward to having a place thats ours and no landlords. Rockridge seems like a cool little area, close to BART close to good food, there are a fair amount of children but I can deal with that, as long as they arent living above me...Sarted my photography class to learn how to...

sure thing. I know a few places in the area worth checking out. Oakland is no SF, but it has its gems.

So for any member living in San Francisco there is a effigy of Jerry Falwells grave on the corner of 18th and Castro, so if you have the urge to dance on his grave, then now is your chance ! Haven't moved yet, we still are just waiting on my wives friends to move out. They are having problems getting the house they want to...

why is it everytime my girl leaves it gets hot...weird.... I feel like I should go out though, it is rarely this balmy at nite in San Francisco, so whenever it happens you kinda feel obliged to go out and walk around. Like a lunar eclips. Also all the cute Mission hipster girls where next to nothing on nights like this...so on second thought maybe...

..... I begining to develop a mild annoyance of people saying, "wow you could sale these" when they see my photographs..... I appreciate it because they are meaning it as a compliment, but I am not really interested in trying to sale my pics. I mean if it happens fine but the whole process that I have seen other people go thru reminds me of...

thanks for the comment. the sale of photographs... nobody buys here either. i've had my stuff up all over town and rarely sell 'em. oh well. they sure do make great gifts [unless people think they're just being nice by saying they love it?!] biggrin

Art and money share a bed in people's minds much too often. One question I get often is "how much do you make doing this?" Let's see, my last two shots I had a girl laying in a 30 degree creek, and a girl in an old tool shed, haha. So around 80k a year. Hard to tell if it's just conversation material or something else; either way it's a bother and I relate.

well it looks like we will be moving to Oaktown in the next couple of months. We tired of living in a overpriced apt, and being woken up every morning at 6:30 by our landlords kid running back and forth above us. The Mrs. owns a house in Rockridge that she has been renting out to friends for the past 2 years and we are...

I appreciate the offer of a beer, but I haven't yet decided whether or not I'm a drinker. If that makes sense? tongue
I'll be arriving the night of the 14th and leaving the afternoon of the 18th. I'm staying with a friend so i'll be keepin busy, but mostly we're planning on taking a lot of pictures. I'm so technically ignorant when it comes to taking pictures (I'm still just a snapshot guy), so I'd love to see how you work if you're planning any interesting shoots.
And if not, i'll hopefully be back in the city later this year on the tail end of a road trip.

So out of curiosity. How many photos do you usually shoot to get those one or two you'll end up posting?

Of all the holidays I think Valentines is the most retarded, I am glad the wife thinks so as well, I shudder at the thought of getting a red, heart shaped balloon.....

Only 140.00... whatever

Aw, Valentine's doesn't have to be retarded - it's just a matter of people being pressured to do retarded things on that day. Which chocolate redeems, somewhat.

I'm planning on being it San Fran on May 26th for a roller derby bout. You gonna show me a good time sailor? wink

well i feel your pain there. over the holidays i learned that i'm paying virtually the same in rent that my cousin who lives in brooklyn does. still not anywhere close to what you're having to put up with though. i suppose we'll all have a good time exploring portland through your lens though now.

I was admiring your photography in the photography group. Incredible. Hope you don't mind my requesting your friendship, and quizing you every now and then.

your "window.jpg" post is awesome. Brilliant shot smile

I just think that stating that lots of people have lots of different opinions does not necessarily mean that you have stated YOUR opinion... whatever

The very fact that people have different opinions is the reason to have these threads, not just to go into a group of mutual appreciation, where you agree with everyone you meet.

So what I'm asking is, do you think photography that is called art is load of shit, or do you have favourite artist photographers, like Cindy Sherman or Bill Henson?
The reason for the thread, is the thing I posted about the APT in Brisbane, in the Photography group. And if you humour me, and look there, you will see NDarwin or whatever his name is, promptly coming in to shit all over the artists I referenced.
Later in the thread about Photo as Art, he lets us know that he too is an artist...
Well I'm sorry, but perhaps a good way to have photography accepted as art is to support your fellow artists?

Thus, my thread, to ask people like yourself to give their opinion.
I'm basically begging you, Leopold, to go in there and tell us how good the art is.

But perhaps you disagree.
Regards,
BetsyLaser blush
