Latley, I've been griping about the things in my life I don't particularily like. I haven't been "down" per say, just sort of bitching to family and friends about career development, not living up to my fullest potential, the usual sort of bullocks most people complain about.

This morning I got a phone call from a good friend who was choking back tears as she struggled to deliver some very sad news. Her mother is suffering from serious mental health issues. She has not been diagnosed with anything yet. She is refusing medication and is fighting hospitalization. Her entire family is horrified because no one knows what is happening to her.

And my heart is breaking for them all.

It's situations like these that remind me how insignificant and surmountable my "problems" are. I recieved an email from my friend later at work, telling me she and her twin sister are back home with the rest of the family.

I feel so, so sad for my girls.

How is Korea? It was freezing when I got here, but the weather is getting nice now so that's good. The fact that I have to take the bus to do all my errands really sucks, since it makes everything take much longer when you have to wait around for a bus to get there and then again to get back. I've only gotten a chance to get off the base once so far, and I plan to post some pictures after my next outing. Outside the gate there's a bunch of bars and emroiderers and places to get your Playstation 2 or X Box upgraded, and also a lot of cellular phone stores. Seoul is about an hour away by train and I hope to make that trip pretty soon too. I work 12 hour days on a weird rotating schedule, so it's difficult to find the time to do these sorts of things.
