Hey Hey My SG Babies!
To all of you who extended your best wishes for my aunt, thank-you bunches! The double by-pass surgery was successful and she is now at home resting and watching a lot of tv. The road to recovery won't be easy but thankfully, the worst is over. I have one resilient 70 year old Auntie, that's for sure!
And in other news...
Bad
Purolator can kiss my ass. It can kiss every sqaure inch of my rosy red ass, because the damn fucking mouse that I ordered over a week ago still hasn't arrived, all because the skippy who first took possession of my package when it was delivered from Apple forgot to scan it. So now, some company employee named Natalie is trying to trace my package and God only knows where it is. It could be in fuckin' Nunavut for all I know. Thanks you soddin' Idiot! Apple computers said they would bill me if they didn't receive my old mouse within ten business days of shipping the new one. Suffice it to say, Purolator is gonna get stuck with the bill. If they try to argue with me, someone's gonna get their nuts pulled out of their eye sockets then forced back into their body via their throat. Fuckin' monkeys at typewriters, I swear to God!!!
Okay, I'm done ranting. Onto more important news...
Good
I attended a friend's wedding last night. I ate like a pig, drank like a fish and danced to cheesy music like a moron. I would have used another animal similie, but I don't know of any that dance. Do you?!
Great
It seems that the month-long marathon of answering phones, making coffee, picking up lunch orders, assembling artful fruit trays, and generally kissing ass at my placement has finally paid off. Friday was supposed to be my last day of co-op, but they asked me to return next week as a freelance assistant to the senior editors, meaning I'm actually going to get paid! Whilst the work is by no means glamourous (you guessed it, tape room) it is a step in the right direction as far as short-term career goals are concerned. The position should run roughly two weeks, and from there...who knows. If I can prove I'm tech savvy (GULP) then I may be kept on for future contracts. Oh yeah. I think the thing that thrills me the most about this whole experience is knowing how far I've come since graduating from University two years ago. Forseeing career-related progress was very difficult when I was working on my degree. I always dreamn't about leaving my hometown and kick-starting a creative career in T.O., but never thought it was gonna happen. Now that things are slowly changing, self-actualization is settling in. I got out of this town and I'm proud of it. I left this town because I wanted to be something more than just a suburban housewife. I know my career development is still in it's embroynic stages, but the fact that inception exists is really quite mind-blowing guys. I'm finally getting somewhere. It's very strange...and great!
PS: For Gumbercules and Arachne, here are my thoughts on last week's Curiosa:
I'd give the T.O. show a 7/10. I sadly missed out on Mogwai because of co-op. I thought I was gonna miss out on The Rapture as well, luckily I got there 15 minutes before they hit the stage. As much as I love them, I thought their performance was pretty mediocre compared to their amazing gig I caught a few months ago at the Guvernment. Mind you, they were opening a show for a tiny crowd in the early evening, so between that and the shoddy sound system, I don't think they were totally into it. Interpol played a pretty solid set. Overall, I thought the Cure's gig was alright. Admittedly, I started to feel a bit bored and sleepy half-way through their set though. They started off the show with their pop-like stuff which I was totally geared up for, but when they launched into their repetoire of melancholic stuff I thought the show really started to drag on. I was dying to hear Boys Don't Cry, but they never played it...sniff sniff.
