Been neglecting sg for awhile... ive been using and enjoying the opera browser lately and the one site that never quite worked on it for me has been this one, but today it does, cool.
Still a mechanic, im pretty damn good at it i think, dont know if i want to be though.
Spent some money I didnt really have recently updating the computer a bit. new video card, more RAM, a raid card and some more hard drive space. the funnest part was building a new "case" i like this one way better than all my previous attempts. I got to use the mills and stuff at work to make perfect sized aluminum plates. picture below.
Also just today a friend who still works at a previous job dropped by with an old friend, the 20 inch monitor i had managed to reserve as my own when i worked there. apparently my succsessor had to give it up for a smaller less desk space consuming model, and my ever loyal friend saw the opurtuniy to swoop in and somehow convince the management it was an obsolete unit (it is quite an old monster, deeper than it is wide and probably 50+ lbs, but i love it all the same).
also in the photo is one of sasha's new canvases. Every one is somehow better than the next. Im becoming more and more confident in her success as a professional artist.
im all sick today, stayed home from work. mostly been reading. The Final Dark Tower book is out and ive been trying to read it as slowly as possible, but today being at home and without the energy to do anything else, ive gone through way too much of it, and embaressingly ive found myself actually weeping as the right side of the book gets increasingly thinner. its the last of a seven book series. the first one came out over 30 years ago. I am seriously afraid to finish it. finishing a good book is always a little sad, a series is even worse, lord of the rings was pretty bad for example, but somehow this seems much worse. Lord of the rings had been finshed long before i was born, but for the last 10 years of my life ive been in a constant state of waiting for the next Dark Tower book. and soon it will be over forever.
