emachine, celeron, windows ME, dial-up, juno, grandparents, thats what i did last night.

my grandfather could probably build a ham radio out of the raw minerals in the average backyard, he also spent many years of his life helping mankind get into space as an engineer at rocketdyne in the 60's . I dont understand how that kind of intelligence cant carry over computer use, but it doesnt. and coupled with the his pride, his endless amount of free time, and several subscriptions to pc related periodicals, that man can talk about every possible thing that could go wrong, even things that couldnt possibly go wrong, as well as the number of transistors in his new external usb 2.0 capitable v92 cabable 56k modem.

but then he's clueless enough that he tries to back up his copy of real player onto his external usb 2.0 hard drive( he's become obsessed with using external usb devices) by dragging the shortcut from the desktop onto the hard drive. Im serious, he has a a whole directory full of shortcuts to all these freeware programs he uses, so that he can "keep them backed up, just in case the hard drive crashes".

ouu i got another one.

He makes cd's with music he gets off the internet! doesnt that sound exciting?! do you wanna know how to do that?!

well, first you find a nice streaming radio station, then you plug in a wire going from the headphone jack on your computer to the audio input on your VCR, then you put your vcr on low speed so you can record a good 6 hours or so of random radio songs on vhs. then you goto sleep, wake up, eat some cut up vons brand hot dogs or something, and check up on your vcr. play through the whole tape making notes on what songs you want on your cd, and at what time they start and stop on the tape, then plug in the audio out from one vcr to another vcr, set the second one to record and use the play and pause on the first vcr to create your perfect cd playlist, then belittle your wife for trying to talk to you while your performing sophisticated man stuff she would never understand, then run a wire from the audio out of the second vcr into the audio in of your weird standalone cd-rw burner thing, set it to record your perfectly edited audio off the vhs tape, and viola! you have an audio CD! but wait... that cd-rw costs you a good 50 cents or so, while the the 8x cd-r's you found at some bargain bin at walmart only cost 5 cents each, so, go to your computer and copy the cd-rw onto the 5 cent cd-r for an hour or so and put that cd-rw back into the stand alone burner for next weeks cd compilation.

i tried to explain my way of making cd's using words like 'nero' and "peer-to-peer" and he said "that sounds way too complicated for me".
elfin:
hehehe, rock on.I got a good laugh out of that.
