When i was a kid i thought everything was being taken care of,
Neglect is probably the most common thing in the world.
the state paves the roads right? maybe not the freeways, but the roads, and it maintains the beaches and the parks, it pays for chp and lapd, (i think sherriff's are federal) it provides schools, the fire department. Every tangible government benefit i can think of is state funded. so why are my federal taxes 5 times higher than state? social security is somewhere between the two and i doubt ill ever see any of that, but whatever, let the old people get a few bucks.but what the hell do federal dollars goto?
all i can think of is military, i remembering reading that foreign aid is less than one percent of the federal budget there's the space program, but i think its somewhere around 1 percent as well. military costs have been going down over the years right? why do i pay the federal government more than state so that it can give the state government federal grants only when it wants to? didnt russia collapse because of over centralization? hasnt this government been becoming more and more centralized ever since its inception as a union of supposedly self governed states? isnt that scary? isnt it time for me to goto sleep?

imagine if the UN suddenly started charging income tax, wouldnt that be ridiculous?
now imagine if the countries were powerless to stop them, as the states are powerless against the federal government.
right now the country is like a big mainframe system, it would be cooler if i t was a parrellel processing network, preffereably using redhat for an OS. Then it would be like one big LAN party! i wonder if we can get generals to run on linux?
