Today my brother called to ask for help on a paper he was writing for a final... then he told me that everything I said was wrong. He also wanted help studying for his astronomy test. Dunno if I can help him there. He has to identify the constellations. Apparantly our father never taught him those, so he went until the age of 20 not being able to name any constellations, or for that matter having no interest in the night sky whatsoever.

We packed up 10 boxes today, half of which were my schoolbooks. I felt temporarily inspired, both by handling the books and by the arguement with my brother, to reread Metamorphoses and maybe the Oedipus cycle.

8 days left. I'm not looking forward to this... well, I'm not looking forward to Maine in black fly season, and dealing with my stepmother, who has decreed that I am not to be under the same roof as he for any length of time. I feel the same way, but I am certainly more reasonable about it. That house is big. I can avoid her. For a day or so.

I was watching a preview for some Stephen King movie on ABC the other night, something about a house full of spirits, which didn't strike me as typical Stephen King horror. I was wondering if maybe he was thinking about our house when he wrote it. The house was haunted for a while, but no one has seen or heard the ghost for years. But something remains that I don't like. The ghost never bothered me. The feeling never crept into my room. But most people could feel it when they walked into the house.

Note: I generally take such things with a grain of salt. But I know that house has something bad in it. I used to think that the something bad was my stepmother, but I think she just complements it now.
