I have an annoying habit- if I get a gig playing bass (which isn't very often at the moment), I'll dig out my bass the day before and "get my fingers back in", which consists of sticking on some Chili's or Rage or something, turning it up and jamming over the top of it.
Trouble is I sold my amp before I started uni to raise a bit of cash, so I play acoustically- ie. I pull the strings bloody hard- and after about 10-15 minutes, depending on how keen I am, my fingers are either sore or even seriously blistered, which is actually worse than if I'd not bothered to practice in the first place.
I do it every time and I never learn- you'd think I'd remember after 12 years, wouldn't you?
That said, I just managed to lose a blister, which might be a first- somehow washing my hands and scoffing a bag of cheese n' onion crisps has made a big one retreat into my index fingertip, which is pretty cool- I'll have to do it more often!
