Sigh ... my girlfriend and I broke up today.

She had a rather hard reaction to my admission that her ex (a good friend of mine), who she was physically abusive towards, had warned me to stay away from her. Never mind how that topic came up in my conversations with her. I suppose she realized that I couldn't trust her, and she didn't want me to choose sides either.

We were both pretty cool about it, though, and we're still friends. In a way I don't mind. She always had a way of looking at me like she had a hidden agenda, and I was anxious about our relationship getting into dangerous territory. Oh well, it's a good thing I'm in Santa Cruz, where there are "plenty of fish", etc.
