I've been working as an exam invigilator in one of my town's local schools for about a month now, I love my job, it's great, I get paid 7.78 for pretty much watching paint dry! On the whole the kids are really great and don't play up very much apart from the nob who insists on sitting through every exam with his paper balanced on top his head refusing to take it.
Today however I was doing a one to one where it's just me, the kid and a helper, this is where the debate starts. I feel bad for the kids who suffer from dyslexia when it comes to exams as many of my good friends suffer from varying degrees of dyselxia, the majority of dyslexic kids are happy to settle for extra time added on to the end of their paper in order for them to complete it and most of them stroll through it fairly easily and don't even need the extra time. However with the kid I was with today he was provided with a reader and a scribe for his science paper, it was the lowest level paper you can take at GCSE level which is fine this is no judgement on said kid's intelligence however I found it rather weird that the reader he had in the exam with him actually READ the whole thing out to him and wrote down all the answers for him as he dictated!
Call me mean or harsh or any other nasty names you feel like but I couldn't help but feel if said kid couldn't even read the paper himself, let alone write in it what on earth was he doing there in the first place? I understand that everyone learns in a different fashion as I was always the odd one out in my year at school as I was someone who learnt through visual techniques rather than spoken ones but I still got through my exams ok. Some nasty mean part of me feels like he shouldn't have taken that exam, I wonder how he even got through school well enough to even sit the paper in the first place. I sound so harsh because he did give that paper a really good shot and i know he got some of the answers right so maybe I'm over-reacting a little here, but surely the whole puropose of exams is that you're actually examined on what you can do not what you can do with someone's help because then we'd all be geniuses!

that guy with the paper on his head deserves a slap. is he a chav?
i've decided that i'm not going to go to coffee with that guy. maybe i felt bad for him on that day because his dad had recently died, but he sent me a text later on that day which reminded me to why i cannot stand him. he's a sleaze.
i don't know... like a week ago i had a lot of people that were interested in speaking to me. Now, no one... but thank you!
how has your week been?
