I'm really really worried about the state of the UK at the moment. People are losing theirs jobs left right and centre, business's are closing down and people are struggling to live. There's a real dominoe effect going on and I don't like it, I really don't like it. What should be the busiest time of the year for most people is vastly becoming the quietest and it's scares the shit out of me. If it's like this now, what's it gonna be like after Christmas? - the notoriously quietest time of the year. I'm worried. I went back to work today for the first time in a few days and people are dispearing - well, getting sacked. Hours have been cut dramaticly because we're too quiet to warrant having loads of staff working. I've been told I've got nothing to worry about cos I'm one of the best waitress and my job is safe, but even my hours are being cut. It's not just the hours either - people aren't tipping anymore. Being on minimum wage I rely on my tips. Tips used to be stupidly good - I'd make more tips than actual wages. On a busy night you could sometimes go away with 100 quid. They've become pretty much non-existing now though. The taxi business has died down a hell of a lot too. My Dad's a cab driver and I myself work for a cab company on Saturday nights just answering the phones. I'm scared at how quiet it is. Again, another industry to go quiet after Xmas is taxi's. If it's like this now, what's it gonna be like in the new year? I haven't even bought any Christmas presents yet. My boyfriend hasn't got a job and is trying his damn hardest to get one... but with people getting made redunctant or sacked everywhere, now isn't exactly the best time to be looking for work. I'm worried about him. He's got rent to pay, bills to pay, needs to feed himself.. I want to help but I don't know if I can cos I don't know what's in store for me. I don't want to live in the UK anymore.
