so today i went to a program to watch Leslie and Brian perform. It actually turned out to be pretty educational. Leslie and Brian are ages 3 and 4 and are going to school at a Migrant Summer School. It is a school funded by the government where hispanic kids go to learn english and other things. It was pretty funny. This one group of kids actually did the hamster dance. I don't know if any of you guys have heard the song but it goes on forever and ever. well they did this choreography step and it was cute but by the 25th time they did it, they were barely moving. poor things. i have also never seen so many hispanic men with mullets. I told Gaudencio (Leslie and Brian's dad) about americans calling the haircut a mullet and the whole "business in the front and party in the back" joke. he thought that was so funny that he had to tell it to every single person there. He enjoys talking to me. Every time he is home while I am there, he asks me a million questions about american culture or politics, or other things. He really knows more about the american government than I do. When I helped him study for his citizenship test, i couldn't believe everything that they had to know. i didn't know any of it. Who knows who the 42nd supreme court justice is? Oh, and i forgot to mention that they had hot sauce on all of the tables to go with our food. what kind of social stigma is that??? it just shows what white people think about hispanics. Gaudencio didn't understand why I was so fascinated with the hot sauce. if it had been a regular school function, they wouldn't have served hot sauce.
