If you're not familiar with Portland area rock in the mid 90's it was so much more than what the media let out. I did have a Pearl Jam tape, I rarely ever fucking listened to it. Thankfully Muchmusic Citylimits was there with the Wedge and amazing new bands that shaped my blooming 13 year old musical taste.
Fantastic bands like Hazel, Eliott Smith, Dead Moon, Seaweed, and then Team dresch came blistering out of the Les-bionic undergrounds that were the northwest. I'm sure there are so many more that may have been more influential. As a kid growing up in suburban Calgary, Alberta and years before the internet this was the only thing that was going. Then came all ages shows and indie distribution. Hazel was always there first, and Jody will always have my heart, she's amazing.
xo kittens.
DEAD MOON!
Seaweed - Probably my favorite Video when I was 14.
Team Dresch, made me into a 16 year old lesbian.
