Hmm, well my profile pic seems to have squashed itself into a square whether I like it or not. While this isn't a pic of me, it is my current top choice for the forearm tattoo I am pondering. I think the image is interesting and creepy, hence it fits me very well.

My girlfriend left for grad school today. It was surprisingly difficult for me, although not because I have this incredible love for her (only been dating maybe 2.5 months), but more that I see myself being comfortable and happy with intimacy in general. I am most definitely a loner, and always thought I'd be perfectly satisfied whether I found a permanent mate or not. But lately, I find that I am a lot less bothered by the drawbacks of a long term relationship. I still don't really trust anyone completely, but as time goes by I find that less and less of a reason to push people away. I can now accept people as they are much better than before, and even more important, accept myself, without regard for someone's (usually mine) narrow view of who I should be.
Ah well, I should have plenty of time to ponder the meaning of life in the coming weeks before I get off my ass and look for a new relationship. That's if I'm not too busy being distracted by the 12 new books I bought this weekend, or Dungeons & Dragons Online Alpha testing. The rest of my free cash I sent to the Salvation Army, since it buys twice the number of meals for the Katrina-displaced as the same $ given to the Red Cross.
