the early spring is a tempramental time! i've spent the better parts of the last couple days reading jaques roubaud and seaching for the bird whose call so elates me in the morning. smile love smile my friend joe found cardinal feed, and we wait and watch for the pious bird. they are handsome, robust, and numerous this year! a great day is coming.

oh yeah, I'm a bird watcher too. the one and only time I ever saw a Cardinal in Arizona, I was ecstatic, it was truly beautiful.

there's a 20 foot saguaro in the front yard of the home across the street from me with at least a dozen nests burrowed into it. and, there is a reflective tint on my bedroom window, so birds fly down to my window ledge and peck at their reflections all day. my favorites are the woodpeckers, they'll actually perch on anything and contentedly peck away for an hour or more. you can hear 'em clacking on streetlamps all over the neighborhood, I think it's kind of cool.

awhile back, I went to the dentist. all the examination rooms have windows that face a small, well manicured desert garden landscape outside the office. on this particular day I saw a mated pair of roadrunners tending their nest. roadrunners aren't particularly colorful, but they are very distinct-looking and are a rare sight nowadays in this part of town. so, at least that made the trip worthwhile.

You are so fortune to have cardinals just a "song"away! We here on the west coast do not have them (alas). I did have the opportunity to experience their beauty when in Hawaii last. Such amazing creatures!

(Baudelaire is MY "spring poet.") smile You have such a lovely way of expressing yourself, by the way.
