one time my little brother had a fish named hercules and it was a beta and it was this really awesome red color and it was his favorite. he was in a phase of being very alone and having no friends at the time other than this little fish that he would talk to. sorry if that sounds lame. well. he asked me as a favor to clean out his water one day and i transferred the fish over to a container with water while i cleaned the bowl. the fish jumped out onto the counter and i started freaking out because i didn't know if it was safe to grab him so that i could put him back in the water. i screamed for my mom and by the time she got there, he had been water deprived for at least 30 seconds. we got him back in the water but..several hours later he died. i felt the most guilt at that time than no other. damn it was fucked up.
