Monday
Well, the weekend has come and gone. I feel as though I've accomplished nothing. I did assist in the judging of a sonnet competition, albeit minor. That was interesting and somewhat painful. Sonnets, and other form poems, have been easier for me to write because of having to follow formulae. I like puzzles. However, most of the entries I was judging were from first time sonnet writers who did not do their research. Again: painful. But it was very casual, and all in fun, so I had to not be as snarky as I wound up being by the 12th sonnet!!
I am so hooked on the song "Shake" by Ying Yang Twins feat. Pitbull right now. God DAYUM!! If it's got a good beat and sounds like sex, I can't help but shake it. I like almost all music, but when I want to get sexy and amp myself up, I'm usually listening to bass.
But
I was just listening to some Eno yesterday, and wrote a great poem in the poetry challenge. 'great' is a matter of opinion, to be sure, but I was happy with it. I'm still tweaking it.
Tom Waits: "Rain Dogs"
Just bought the vinyl again. Not the reissue, either. Oh how sweet it is...
I miss my writing partner.
