I just finished God Is Dead, an extremely dark, sometimes comic novel about, well, the death of God. It starts off with Colin Powell in Sudan, right after he goes off for some reason or another and starts talking like some kind of street pimp, when he starts yelling things like, "I'm black as night, mother fucker!"

See, God has come to Earth as a human, namely a woman in Sudan. Turns out God dies in the whole Darfur incident and slowly the world finds out. So what do people do when God is officially dead? Teenage boys make a suicide pact, mothers start literally worshiping their children, and the evolutionists and the creationists, well they start a war with each other.

I was kind of dreading the chapter entitled "Interview with the last remaining member of the feral dog pack that fed on God's corpse" but it turned out to actually be smart and intelligent (To put it short the dogs eat some of God's body and eventually become sentient and can talk telepathically. It makes sense.)

I did read the book in one day, which shows how much actual work I get done at work.

Next on my book list, Lust in Translation, a look at cultural views on infidelity from around the world. Should be an interesting read.
