For the first time in forever I've been writing steadily. Plenty of stories in the pipeline and plenty of ideas getting thrown around. Here are some of the finished and unfinished stories getting worked on.
Last Call - A night in the life of a flight attendant - finished 4/13/07
Nobody's Hero - A convenience store clerk kills a young teen robber and is torn between being hailed as a vigilante hero by the media and a child murderer by the community - finished 4/30/07
The Beach - Boy is on vacation, so is girl. Boy meets girl, boy falls in love with girl and vice versa, but their vacations are coming to a close and the inevitable split hangs over them - finished 6/1/07
Return of the Gunslinger - Ex-con father returns to town to visit his daughter he hasn't seen in eight years, and visits the town that hasn't forgotten the crime he committed - finished 6/4/07
How Little We Know - A group of seventh graders grow up in one pivotal summer at summer camp - finished 6/10/07
Destroy Everything You Touch - Little girl who can't feel pain (Congenital insensitivity to pain with anhidrosis) faces her first year of school that ends in tragic circumstances.
and some of the ones being worked on...
Walking With Your Eyes Closed - My perpetual pet project. Exists in at least three finished forms that I do plan on combining into one larger story. (first incarnation embarrassingly started 11/04)
Face Down - Metaphysical story of a man dealing with the death of his wife. (started some time in 2005)
Dancing With Strangers - A man examines his failing relationship by watching his significant other dancing with another man. (started some point in 2006)
There are a lot other that exist only on scraps of paper, ideas or paragraphs that I jotted down in a frantic moment, trying not to lose the idea. Some ideas like a boy who can fly who ends up being persecuted for being so different, a quick story about life surrounding a photo booth on a Jersey Shore boardwalk, a slightly morbid story about a man on the donor list who works his way up the list by killing those above him, a time travel tale about a man who attempts time travel and dooms himself and every other him in alternate universes.
I've also been taking an insane amount of notes, you never know when seemingly useless information is going to come in handy. Here are a few snippets -
assignation - an appointment to meet someone in secret, typically one made by lovers.
obstreperous - noisy and difficult to control
random notes on a conversation overheard at work where two guys were discussing how to power a flying car (It came down to does the flying car have miles per gallon or miles per minute?)
observation on why that girl was pacing around the parking lot at work the other day (She wasn't on the phone and she wasn't walking with any urgency, she was just pacing the perimeter of the parking lot over and over)
Dysarthria is the impaired ability to articulate.
Dysnomia is the impaired ability to name objects.
I want a daughter named Emma and a son named Jackson.
Those are the kind of notes I keep around, pretty random.
So yeah, I've been writing, and it's good, it keeps me busy.
