So Sunday was my birthday, and all-in-all it was really good. Usually I have a real crummy attitude toward my own birthday preferring to be left alone than to have any attention brought on myself. This year was different, I've gone out with friends and I actually enjoyed myself. I know, I'm surprised too.
Saturday Jared and I went out for Mexican with his father and grandfather. It was pointed out that all Mexican is the same food just wrapped in something different. After that we went dirt bike riding on his grandfather's land which was a blast. Riding a dirt bike at night through fields is great, you never know when a hole is going to sneak up on you and your front wheel is going to come off the ground. After that his girlfriend drove us to midtown and we had drinks at Celtic Crossing. I don't like bars for one reason, they're too loud. You go there to be social, and then social interaction is nearly impossible. But after three Long Island Iced Teas and a vodka cranberry it didn't bother me so much. Jared drank equal what I drank which was quite a feat for him because he doesn't drink, ever. He also managed to keep it all down so kudos to him. After that I went home, got up this morning and went to church with my mom because she had to give an announcement and she hates hates hates getting up in front of people, so I did the announcement for her. Then I went to 28 Weeks Later with Stephen and learned that there's nothing scarier than a fast zombie on fire. Then I went to dinner with my parents at TGI Fridays. I had two more Long Island Iced Teas and my mom brought a small cake for the birthday celebration. At one point this random, middle aged woman came by and wished me a happy birthday which was odd, but also very polite.
Also, my dad's chicken came in 17th place at Memphis in May BBQ Fest, which is actually really good considering there were 70+ entries, so he was well within the top 20. He also just got promoted to head cook on the cooking team so I know where I'm going to be next year.
My whole birthday take is as follows:
* TV stand (To replace my old 200+ pound entertainment center)
* Phil Collins Greatest Hits (I asked for it as a sort-of joke, but it's really really good)
* carrying case for my laptop
* sheet for my mattress so my down comforter can stop stabbing me at night (It's a definite improvement)
* Blink by Malcolm Gladwell
* 5 Long Island Iced Teas, one vodka cranberry, dinner, and an appetizer
* $50
It was definitely a great birthday, the last two days have been a blast. Now I have to wait another year to get this kind of attention again
