I am not a psych major but how about an ex-bf who had to live in the shadow of a childhood love having to face the myth and feeling hurt and jealous?
Identify your hurt. Show it to your lover and find out if he is willing to remove its source. If he is not willing and the source is in him, he is the one to be removed.
