So last night my electronics failed on my Star-Lord helmet. Well I went on Amazon thinking it was just the batteries and found something pretty disturbing in the reviews. Turns out this thing literally burns through batteries and I don't mean juice. I mean this thing actually gets so hot that it melts the batteries inside. After reading this I decided to strip out the electronics and just install red mesh on the eyes rather than have the LEDs in there. I really don't want to risk this thing catching fire while i'm walking around a convention or something and I end up going home with 3rd degree burns and possible blindness. I installed some red mesh into the eye sockets of the helmet last night and it actually looks really really good surprisingly. My friend who owns a prop company has offered to install safer LED lighting for the helmet and i'm probably going to take him up on it but for right now the mesh actually works pretty well. I'm pretty impressed with my cosplay ingenuity.
