So I want to thank @rambo and @missy for this blog homework assignment. So this story is a very personal story and one that I don't share with many people or anyone for that matter. This story is in honor of my dad and i'm sharing this story on SG because SG is a site that like my dad has had such a positive impact on my life. Starting this story is a little odd because I don't really know where to start but here it goes. My father was born in Cuba in a very small village outside Havana in the 50's literally right before the revolution broke out and Castro took power. He left Cuba when he was very young but his one memory is hearing constant machine gun fire outside his hut when he was only about 4 years old. During the Bay Of Pigs my dad was able to leave Cuba via Spain as a political refugee due to John F. Kennedy. My dad traveled the entire world as a teenager going through Morocco and all through Spain even walking in the same footsteps as Coronado to make it eventually to this country. My dad came to this country in the 1960's as a young man and went to school to get an education. In the 1970's my dad was able to become a citizen of the United States after he graduated college. During his years in the Coast Guard my dad was stationed all over the world but what changed his life forever and mine was his being stationed down south. After my dad was honorably discharged from the Coast Guard he moved to Memphis, Tennessee for a spell and then down to New Orleans, Louisiana. After moving to New Orleans he walked into a club and met my mother. My parents dated for about 2 years before my dad proposed and married my mom. After marrying my mom they moved to Miami, Florida where they lived for a good 6 years until Hurricane Andrew decimated Miami. My mom was working as a trauma nurse at Baptist Hospital Of Miami when the storm hit. Shortly after Hurricane Andrew my family moved out here and had me. I tried my best to shorten the story but out of all the stories my family has told me this is by far my favorite. I have many such as what we did during the Civil War but this is still my favorite story of them all.
