So I have a confession to make, I haven't been on a first date in a little over 2 years. The reason is I haven't really found anybody that has stimulated me in any sort of way or that I've really liked enough to ask on a date. I've been on tiny little coffee dates with people that I find physically attractive but that's where it ends. I usually never ask for a second date because after you get passed the looks there really is nothing there, all they are is a pretty face. Well there had been this really sweet and cute girl named Sam that sits in the back of my Literature class that I share a lot in common with. We like the same shows, comics, similar music tastes, etc. I had been avoiding asking her out because there is this little phenomenon that happens with me when I get interested in a girl. I've come to call it the Star Trek phenomenon, because you start to get all these feelings of unknowns and what-if scenarios. In Star Trek that is what the entire show is about, exploring the unknown and dealing with what-if scenarios and that's exactly what happens with me. It prevents me from ever asking anyone out because i'm constantly afraid of those X Y unknown variables like "what if she doesn't like me", "what if i'm not good enough", "what if i screw up", etc. All of that aside I felt it's been far too long since I've talked to anyone and actually taken a leap so I did and I asked her out. Too my amazement she said yes and we went out on a date today (technically yesterday since it's 1am as i'm writing this). What was really cool was halfway through the date after about 2 hours of hanging out I was about to take her home. As soon as I got into the car and was about to drive her home she actually wanted me to stay out with her and keep the date going longer. We ended up hanging out another few hours and when I dropped her off she really wanted to see me again and go out again. Safe for some embarrassing allergies the date went really well and i'm excited to see where this takes me. Maybe she'll be a good person to date steadily for awhile. I guess i'll have to boldly go to find out ;)
