The one thing I always liked about Today is the Day is that their albums were never really the greatest recording quality. Some of the stuff, recording wise, that I've heard Steve Austin do for other bands is just excellent -- yet he always kept his own stuff really raw sounding.
The fact that my walkman has become my stereo these days makes me feel that much more "punk rock" listening to poorly recorded stuff.
