Wow. Just had a very sobering experience.

One of the productions I work with hadn't heard from their assistant editor in a few days. He turned up dead, by is own hand, in his apartment today.

He was one of my contacts there, and partially coordinated bringing my stuff into their editing process. I didn't really know him, apart from work related phonecalls, so it's not a big personal loss but, man, it wakes you the hell up. It makes all the little daily grind problems seem like petty bullshit.

I feel for his family and friends, and especially his ex-girlfriend (looks like the suicide may have been related to her breaking up with him). This'll stay with them for the rest of their lives. That's a lot of shit and guilt to lay on people you care about.

I'll write something a little less depressing later. Just wanted to get this out there.
