Towering high, and precariously in the corner of my lounge room is what i call my avalanche of books. Stacks upon stacks of hardcovers and paperbacks.

Most of them read many, many times over. I love re-reading things. One of my favorite quotes is from a book named 'Landscape Painted with Tea'. In the book the main character postulates that 'Every book should be read twice. Once when you are younger than the main character and again when you are older than them.'

I love this idea and have tried to follow it with as many books as possible over the years.

But deep in the canyons of the avalanche is also an innumerable amount of books i have never even opened.

You see I have this tendency to walk into 2nd hand book stores and buy five or six old books at a time based only on how cool the bindings are.

I simply love old books.

As a result there are quite a few classic books in the avalanche that i usually don't even know i own until i decide to strap on my climbing gear and do some hiking.

On a recent adventure i discovered i own quite a few works by Joseph Conrad. I've never read a word of his but had always had a passing interest due to Apocalypse Now. I film which i love dearly (as much for the saga of how is was made as the film itself).

His writing is wonderful. Full of such poetry and adventure. It has served as a great reminder that there is so much art and beauty out there i still have to discover and that makes me so very happy.

I know what you mean about reading. You probably have quadrupled my book shelves. What sort of books do you tend to favor the most???

Thanks for the props on Kemper's set. She makes shooting so easy, the camera loves her.
