How was everyone's fourth? Last night was... bizarre...to say the least. Allow me to ellaborate.
I met this girl online. Nice, sweet girl, from Russia originally, lives about an hour away. She wanted to get together. Ok, all good. She has no car at the moment, but really wanted to hang out with me before she goes home to Russia for 3 weeks. She wanted to roll out to Grand Rapids with her friends to the fireworks, food, and the gay bar. I said it sounds like a scene and agree to pick her up and hang out with her. That being said, I head to her and meet her.
She was very beautiful, really sexy. Very good head on her shoulders even though she was younger. I didn't feel that she was into me though, so I just decide to roll out the evening as friends, which is fine with me, I always need more friends.
We head back to Lansing, pick up Trevor (We had decided to take him with us because I was driving home by myself while she caught a ride with her friends.) and we roll the hour drive to Grand Rapids. On the way she and I sketched each other in the car while Trevor was driving. She's really good, a bit tentative and slow, but the skill is all there. She just needs to hone it and loosen up... something that many oil painter's never do unfortunately...loosen up, I mean.
We get there, and see fireworks over the city line, but we were too late to actually attend them, and the streets were a mad house. None of us had a cel phone, so we had to borrow one so that she could call her friend. After about a half hour wild goose chase we find the bar we were supposed to be going to.. "Diversions"... The scene was real dead, 4th of july weekend, what did anyone expect? But I rolled with it, played a little pool, watched people dance, drank really weak screwdriver's that were not worth the $3 they were charging for them (Couldn't drink much, I was DD), I never once got drunk, though I did enjoy a jello shot. Ha ha. The innuendo of serving jello shots in tiny cups at agay bar was not wasted on me.
The only problem was this, and it's the same problem I keep running into at gay bars and events... all of the women there were in couples... drat. My friend and her friend were the only other single ladies (besides this one woman), and I wasn't sure but they may have had something going, or planned to have something going, or had had something going, not sure... They could have been just friends too... who knows.
My friend was only 19 though, and after a while of not drinking she got bored. Her friend was 27, and decided to start sneaking her shots... to no success... they both ended up getting kicked out long before last call. So, I went outside with them for a minute, she was real upset, and made plans to get together again once she is back in the country, along with making loose plans with her friend. They left, so I decided to go back in to find Trevor... who by now was really hammered and on the dance floor....
Now, he wasn't dancing on the dance floor, but he was getting down next to the bar... for those who have not seen Trevor dance, it's rather humorous, to say the very least.
He had had several beers and shots of whiskey, so he was quite loose... much more than I was. He tried to get me to dance, but I am not a dancer. I am much more the type of lesbian who would rather sit and drink and chat and play pool with the other dykes, thank you... but they had all left with the others. Oh well. So I stood there and watched everyone else dance. Mostly gay men, of course, one woman, many of the men had there shirts off, that was something I have to get used to, seeing all that men flesh in the gay bar.
hahhaha.. But I was sitting here watching them with the strobe lights going and the smoke machines and all the sparkles from the disco balls and all that glistening, naked, male flesh, and I either had an ADD moment from all the shiny things (I'm not ADD either), or a ceizure from all the stop motion imagery that was before me, because I had such an intense moment of clarity that I just released alot of my anger fromt his past month. It felt good... to do that... hey, clarity at the gay bar? Who'd have thought?
Trevor got hit on more than I did...well, he was actually approached by a gay male prostitute... no shit... "If you have money, we can hang out together tonight." I am not kidding. It was surreal. Trevor is straight, straight as can be.. and here he was flirting with some seven foot tall drag queen/prostitute... it was priceless... he would never have taken him up on it, but it was priceless nonetheless...
Oh oh oh oh oh!!! Funny thing too, I was in the bathroom and on the stall door I saw this grafitti keyed into the paint that read "Kim *My ex-girlfriend's last name* is evil."
......
Hahahahhahahahahahahaha!!!!!
......
No, I did not key it into the paint, it was there when I got there, I swear!!!
If I had not already been in there taking a piss I swear I would have wet myself laughing... gods, it was priceless.
I went out and told Trevor, and we both had a good, raucous laugh. It felt really good.
We rolled home after they closed. Trev was so wasted. We went out to eat when we got home, and then went home and fell into bed. It was a bizarre 4th, but not our first bizarre fourth, something about that day has a weird connection with us. It was the first time I made a move on him 8 years ago, and every year we seem to have one strange experience after another on the fourth. It must be some connective thing in the space/time continuum or something, I can't explain it, very strange.

And because no one did it yesterday, I'm doing it again. I'm done reading Neil Gaiman's "American Gods"... but I still need more fantasy... do pick one for me, please.
Add: Tell me what I should read next.
I have a penchant for Sci-fi Fantasy, as many of you know, but beyond that I have several good sounding books on my shelves. Cast your vote to tell me which one/series I should start reading.
1. Michelle West- "The Broken Crown". The Sun Sword volume one.
2. Sara Douglass- "The Wayfarer Redemption".
3. Tanya Huff- "Sing the Four Quarters".
4. China Mieville- "Perdido Street Station".
5. Neil Gaiman- "Neverwhere".
Thanks all for voting.
