Well, there have been some happenings here the last few days. The biggest change is that I bought a new computer. I can't believe how much better this new emachine is then my old beat up, dying vaio laptop (it was 5 years old...our sales guy was shocked when we told him... he was amazed it lasted so long.
) We went as barebones as we could, got just what we needed, bought one of the cheapest computers that the store had, and still have a computer that's a thousand times better than the old one. And, surprise surprise, it has a port in the rewritable drive (woo hoo! the R.D. is new too!) that takes my memory stick from my camera and downloads the images in a snap. Bonus! We did not even notice it in the store when we bought it. Huzzah! And, because I'm so damn cute and have such a winning personality, the guy gave us a bit of a discount on all of the extras. (I never knew I could get away with that! Who knew men liked girls with no makeup and extra weight to them?huh?) All told, including extra paper (which we needed) an extra cartridge for my printer (which I needed) and two 50 packs of cds for our r.d. (buy one get one free, plus a discount! sweet!) and the service plan for 3 years (so I can take it back and bitch and get things fixed for free!) and after our rebates come back we spen a little over $800. Not bad, for a computer we'll use until it dies.
In other news, I approached the cute girl in my favorite coffee shop and asked her to model for me. She was so cute, she laughed and was very flattered, but insisted she could only do clothed modeling to begin with (meh!!
) But, that's ok... it starts a dialogue, if nothing else. I gave her my business card, I hope she calls me back. I can't wait to paint her mass of dreads, she had them gathered back in a ponytail yesterday and they looked like a star shape emanating from her head, very becoming. She, like everybody I have ever approached for modeling, was a bit confused and had a questioning look on her face... "Why choose me?" I could see her wanting to ask it, but she could not work up the nerve. Well, my friend Dorothy works with her and was there when I was, Molly (the new model's name!) can just grill Dorothy about me. Dorothy knows it's legit... but I hope she doesn't scare her off with more tales of my exploits. I can be quite professional when asked and not let my lebido control me... so... hopefully Molly will be in touch and I will have a new model to work from. Bliss!
How could I forget! I finished my painting of Echo and finally have it here to display. What do you think?
It's about the exploitation of young girls in the sex industry... but I don't have a title for it yet... bah... trifles... I'm working on a new series that incorporates watercolor on yupo paper, blockprints, and collage... it's going to be fun, the size is small, only 8" by 8". I find that working with a smaller size constraint is far more interesting than large lately. It's challenging. The last thing I worked on that was so experimental was my prostitution piece, and that took the better part of the summer to make (damn you oil based inks! Why take 7 weeks to dry on yupo!) and I had to sacrifice one of the two paintings I made. Oh well.... them's the breaks, as they say.
So I am going to start trying to sell my paintings through my journal soon, I just need to take lower res stills of my older paintings than I have now. Again, I can make prints of anything on my lovely printer (
), just let me know what you're interested in.
My website is www.geocities.com/edwardxo
and join the female artist group too! If you have ovaries, I promise to let you in.
Or you can view my AMAZON WISHLIST and buy me stuff to read (
) or at the very least tell me what I should and should not read. Bear in mind, it is a wishlist, hence the reason it is so long. If I really had my true wish, when it came to reading, I would be like Burgess Meredith in the "Twilight zone" episode, "Time enough at Last" and read all of the books I could ever want, but I wouldn't break my glasses in the process.
